The Problem We're Solving
Texas has one of the most competitive electricity markets in the world — but also one of the most confusing. Hundreds of plans from dozens of providers, each structured differently. Bill credits that make cheap-looking plans expensive at your actual usage. Tiered rates. Time-of-use pricing. Gimmicks designed to obscure the true cost.
The state's official comparison tool, PowerToChoose.org, shows rates at a generic 1,000 kWh benchmark — which may not reflect your home's usage at all. The result is that most Texans either overpay for electricity or spend hours trying to decode their options.
We built Texas Power Guru to fix that.
How It's Different
Usage-Based Ranking
Plans are ranked by your projected annual cost — not a generic 1,000 kWh benchmark. Enter the months you know; we estimate the rest from Texas seasonal data.
No Gimmick Plans
We automatically filter out bill-credit plans, variable-rate plans, time-of-use plans, and prepaid plans. Only straightforward fixed-rate options make the list.
No Commissions
We earn nothing from the providers we display. There is no financial incentive to show you one plan over another. Our only revenue is the optional $1 detailed report.
Updated Daily
Plan data is pulled directly from PowerToChoose.org every day. You're always seeing current rates, not cached data from last week.

Free Tool vs. $1 Full Report
The free plan finder lets you compare all fixed-rate plans in your area, filtered and ranked by your projected cost. It's the fastest way to see if you're overpaying and what a better option looks like.
The $1 detailed report goes further — it generates a full month-by-month cost breakdown for any plan you're considering, in a shareable format you can send to a partner, landlord, or anyone else involved in the decision. It's ideal when you're actively ready to switch and want a full analysis in hand.
